Arguments or House in Jannah?

Arguments or House in Jannah?

May 13, 2024

The response is Jannah! In our fast-paced world filled with diverse opinions and perspectives, it's easy to find ourselves entangled in heated debates and arguments, in our very own house. However, as Muslims, we are encouraged to seek peace and harmony in all interactions, striving to embody the values of patience, tolerance, and understanding. Let starts at home. Actions trigger reactions, how we respond determines the mood. Cultivation of this habit through Duaa is possible.

I invite you to embark on a journey with me and help me—a journey towards cultivating peace and embracing the habit of "No Argument." In this blog post, we'll explore the importance of this habit in our daily lives, its relevance to Islamic teachings, and practical steps to incorporate it into our routine.

Create a Space

The habit of "No Argument" is not just about avoiding conflicts; it's about fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and tranquility in our interactions with others. By refraining from arguments and disputes, we create space for open dialogue, constructive communication, and mutual understanding.

Our goals are clear: to avoid getting into arguments and to practice active listening and empathy. Through these goals, we aim to improve our relationships, cultivate a positive character, and embody the teachings of Islam in our daily lives.

House in Jannah

To track our progress, we'll record daily instances of avoiding arguments in our 99e journal. By doing so, we'll gain insights into our behavior patterns, identify triggers, and celebrate our achievements along the way.

Reflect before responding. Try fathoming the other perspective. Remember the words of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): "I guarantee a house in Jannah for one who gives up arguing, even if he is in the right..."

Embracing the habit of "No Argument" aligns with our values as Muslims and our aspirations to embody the principles of peace, tolerance, and compassion taught by our deen of Islam. While this habit is not time-bound, we commit to developing it over the next two years, recognising that personal growth is a journey that requires patience and dedication.

Identify trigger moments—when faced with differing opinions or potential disagreements. During discussions or debates, remind ourselves of our commitment to avoiding arguments and seeking peaceful resolutions.

Accountable

Utilise the 99e Habit Tracker journal to note daily instances of avoiding arguments. This journal will serve as a valuable tool for self-reflection, accountability, and continuous improvement. Share our goal with family, close friends, or the 99e Circle, affirming our commitment to cultivating peace and harmony in our interactions.

Enlist the support of a trusted accountability partner—whether it's a spouse, a friend, or a fellow member of the 99e Circle—who shares our goal and can provide encouragement and support along the way. Tick the 99e habit tracker checkbox on page 206, signifying our commitment to upholding the habit of "No Argument" and holding ourselves accountable for our actions. Engage in weekly and monthly habit reviews on the 99e journal, reflecting on our experiences, challenges, and successes related to avoiding arguments.

Log our habit daily on the habit tracker table on the 99e journal, ensuring consistency and continuity in our journey towards cultivating peace. Review our progress every Friday, adjusting our approach if needed, and celebrating our growth and achievements along the way.

Ground Society With Respect

In conclusion, embracing the habit of "No Argument" is not just a personal endeavor; it's a collective effort to create a more peaceful and harmonious world. By committing to this habit, we not only enrich our own lives but also contribute to building a society grounded in respect, empathy, and understanding.

As we embark on this journey together, let's remember the words of Allah (SWT):

"And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient." (Quran 8:46)

May Allah (SWT) bless us with the strength, wisdom, and perseverance to embody the habit of "No Argument" in our daily lives, Ameen.

Peace and blessings be upon you all.
