Sexual Suppression- A Crying Energy to be Released!
Barely Scratching the Surface of Desire. No Wonder Why Weakness Has Overpowered Men! Suppression of sexual energy maybe linked to weakness.
Yesterday, I received an unexpected yet delightful call from a dear friend and relative. It had been months since we last saw each other. His voice carried the warmth and familiarity of old times, "Hassan, I'm coming to see you. Are you available?" Without hesitation, I replied affirmatively. An hour later, we met at our local Chaiwala- fetched our karack tea and headed to a nearby park of William Morris for a long walk and an even longer meaningful conversation. He brings me joy when I see him and grateful to have him in my life- he is in my cycle of influence.
Our discussion was rich and diverse as usual, touching on the cultures of Uzbekistan, Oman, Kenya, the significance of persevering through life's challenges, the importance of lineage, freedom of movement, and business. Though the topics seemed generic, his presence and our deep connection brought a unique beauty to our conversation. We laughed and reminisced as the sun prepared to set, but one topic stood out prominently in our discussion—marital issues and the rising challenges faced by Muslim couples in the West, in particular.
Earlier that day, I had received a disturbing message in a WhatsApp group about a husband being kicked out of his house by his wife due to his pornography addiction. The poor wife, deeply distressed, had contacted another man for advice who shared this on the group to seek for advice. As my friend and I walked, I shared this incident with him, leading us to ponder several critical questions about marital satisfaction, privacy, and the evolving dynamics of Muslim families in the West.
Satisfaction
Are Muslim wives in the West truly satisfying their husbands vice versa , or is the satisfaction merely superficial that does not scratch the surface of desire? This question delves into the core of marital relationships. Satisfaction in marriage is multifaceted, encompassing emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions. In many Western societies, the pressures and distractions are immense, often leading couples to neglect these essential aspects. The incident we discussed highlighted a severe breach of trust and privacy—can spouses go through each other's mobile phones to spy? Islam places a high value on trust and respect for privacy. Spying on one's spouse not only violates this trust but also undermines the foundation of the marital relationship.
Behaviour
Can a wife kick her husband out of the house, especially when children are involved? And is it appropriate for her to discuss her husband's issues, such as pornography addiction, memory deterioration, and lack of effort in work, with another man? These actions raise significant concerns. In Islam, resolving marital conflicts requires wisdom, patience, and often the involvement of family or trusted community members, not outsiders or friends. The wife’s behaviour in this context can be seen as a cry for help but also highlights a possible lack of appropriate support systems within the community.
Go for Plural
We also reflected on the rising influence of the feminist movement and its impact on traditional Islamic values, particularly the concept of polygamy. Many modern Muslim women, influenced by these movements, oppose the idea of plural marriage. Yet, polygamy, when practiced with justice and fairness, can offer solutions to specific challenges faced by individuals. Some men have strong physical desires, and for them, one wife may not be enough. If these desires are not addressed within the bounds of halal (permissible), they may lead to haram (forbidden) actions, such as pornography addiction.
Islam allows plural marriage under strict conditions of fairness and justice. It recognises the natural differences between men and women, including the times when a wife may be unavailable due to menstruation, post-partum recovery, or other personal reasons. During such times, polygamy can be a viable solution for men with strong desires, preventing them from seeking forbidden outlets.
Sex and Creative Energy
Sex is a force that can clarify the mind, dispelling the fog of indecision and confusion. Minimising such acts can lead to a clouded mind, vulnerable to the predatory nature of pornography. Napoleon Hill's concept of -The Mystery of Sex Transmutation- in his book "Think and Grow Rich" highlights this phenomenon. He explains that sex desire is the most powerful of human desires. When this desire is fulfilled in a halal manner, a man becomes unstoppable. This powerful drive enhances imagination, courage, will-power, persistence, and creative ability. Men driven by this desire often take significant risks, illustrating the potent influence of sexual energy.
The transmutation of sex energy requires will-power but offers substantial rewards. The desire for sexual expression is natural and should not be suppressed. Instead, it should be channeled into activities that enrich the body, mind, and spirit. Without proper outlets, this energy seeks less worthy channels. A dammed river will eventually find an outlet, just as suppressed sexual energy will seek expression, potentially in harmful ways.
Let the Energy Riot
The challenges faced by Muslim couples in the West are real and complex. While modern influences and feminist ideologies offer new perspectives, it's essential to balance them with traditional Islamic teachings. The ability to transmute sexual energy into creative and productive outlets is a powerful tool. Islam, with its timeless wisdom, provides guidance that always remains relevant and in all situations. By harnessing this energy and channelling it appropriately, individuals can achieve personal growth and fulfillment.
Ultimately, our goal should be to cultivate peaceful, harmonious relationships that align with our Islamic faith and values. By doing so, we can build stronger families and communities, ensuring that we leave behind a legacy of love, respect, and lasting benefit. Sexual suppression weakens men- do no weaken your husband, let the energy riot and respect the creation of Allah for you will be elevated in status.
In conclusion, filter the Western concept of husband and wife and embrace your Islamic root for you will be honoured and dignified in this temporary life before hereafter. Suppress your pride to be dignified by obeying husbands as Allah commanded and not a human being order!
